This Privacy Policy describes how ember ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application ember (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws.

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Information you provide directly: your name, email address, username, and authentication data when you create an account.
• User-generated content: the entries, thoughts, and tasks you write in the App, including journal entries.
• Usage and log data: information about how you use the App, including focus sessions, streaks, ignitions, IP address, and diagnostic data.
• Device data: device type, operating system, and device identifiers.
• Sensitive information: because the journal feature allows free-form personal writing, your entries may contain information you consider sensitive (such as references to health or wellbeing). We process this content only to provide the App's functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features;
• Generate AI-based responses (task breakdowns and journal replies);
• Personalize your experience and improve our services;
• Identify usage trends and protect the App;
• Respond to your inquiries and provide support;
• Send administrative and, where you consent, marketing communications;
• Comply with our legal obligations.

3. Artificial Intelligence

The App uses AI-based services to generate task breakdowns and journal responses. To provide these features, the content you submit (such as task descriptions and journal entries, along with relevant past entries used for context) is processed by Anthropic, our third-party AI provider, via its API. You can stop using the AI features at any time, and you may request deletion of your data by updating your account settings or contacting us at support.ember.app@gmail.com.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following categories of third-party service providers, who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements:

• AI platforms (Anthropic) — to generate AI responses;
• Cloud computing and data storage providers (Supabase) — to host and store your data;
• Authentication services (Apple, Google, Supabase) — to manage sign-in;
• Payment processors (Apple In-App Purchase, RevenueCat) — to manage subscriptions;
• Analytics providers — to understand App usage.

5. Payments

Subscriptions are processed through Apple In-App Purchase and managed via RevenueCat. We never collect or store your full payment card details. Please review the privacy policies of Apple and RevenueCat.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as you maintain an account with us. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing. EU/EEA users have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
